10/17/2021 0 Comments Making of Above the FlowAbove The Flow This piece started after a Master Class with Matt Tommey in North Carolina. When I wasn't broadening my Artist mind at the mastery program I was touring the River Arts District and heading to the trails to check out water falls. I met so many amazing artists and made some new artist friends. After some great advice, I decided to dump my frames and go free form. I have always loved how I can marry my sculpture with my watercolors. But I have been limited by shadow box frame sizes. Above The Flow was inspired by the beautiful waterfalls of Asheville North Carolina along with my spiritual artist growth from the master class. The piece started with a pile of junk mail that I shredded and made into free form paper sheets. Once the paper was dry I layered pieces & added color. The waterfall was the first to show up then above the waterfall a human form joined the piece by rising up above the flow.
